// about

Engineering for the real world.

Senior Android developer with close to 6 years of experience building production apps at consumer scale. B.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad. I work in Kotlin, Jetpack Compose and modern Android architecture, with a focus on app reliability, release quality and developer-productivity tooling. I was promoted from SDE2 to SDE3 at DailyRounds / Marrow, and before that worked at Swiggy on the Traffic and Acquisition stream. Most recently I built Chronarch, an original focus-productivity app, end to end, from concept through CI to a Google Play release.

Independent Android Developer

Feb 2026 — Present

  • Upskilled in modern Android through structured Jetpack Compose and multi-module Clean Architecture curricula, then applied the patterns by building CaloryTracker from scratch — a multi-module nutrition app since extended with on-device food image classification (MediaPipe/TFLite), an Open Food Facts integration with custom pagination, and use-case and repository test coverage.
  • Built Chronarch, an original focus-productivity app, and released it to Google Play, owning concept, UI, architecture, implementation, testing and the Play Console release.
  • Owned the core architecture decisions across both apps: feature-based modularization with enforced layer boundaries, offline-first persistence, and background work that survives process death.
  • Ran a team-grade workflow solo: static analysis and automated code review gating every PR, reproducible CI builds, and versioned closed-testing releases.
Software Development Engineer 3 (Android)DailyRounds / Marrow

Apr 2025 — Jan 2026

  • Owned the Marrow app’s Android 15 migration end to end: audited platform behaviour changes, handled edge-to-edge and window-inset work, verified affected screens, and produced a readiness document plus a team-wide QA checklist.
  • Introduced data-backed release monitoring, using BigQuery crash logs to assess release stability and gate staged rollouts.
  • Delivered critical features such as the video flow redesign, skip functionality in part-based Grand Tests, and a revamped plan purchase flow.
  • Ran the Android app-vitals initiative with weekly reviews, directing fixes that took the crash-free rate from 97.8% to 99.7% and the ANR rate from 0.43% to 0.20% (Play Console).
Software Development Engineer 2 (Android)DailyRounds / Marrow

Nov 2023 — Mar 2025

  • Standardized the GitHub PR workflow — PR templates, release labels, commit-message and branch-naming enforced by git hooks — and cut CI cost by removing redundant test runs; the iOS team adopted it too.
  • Built an in-house Android SDK that fires on-device notifications with logs the instant a crash or ANR occurs, helping catch issues early in development and QA; shipped as a versioned artifact consumable locally or from a remote registry via a config flag, and adopted as standard tooling.
  • Primary point of contact for the Marrow Android app: led app-side sprint execution (PRD and design reviews, solutioning, task breakdown), introduced an Android Release Manager role and a pre-development design sign-off gate, mentored engineers, and ran SDE1 hiring loops.
  • Owned Android app-health monitoring: led the app-vitals OKR with weekly reviews, clearing legacy crashes including a foreground-service violation running at 1,000+ crashes a week, and built a Looker Studio dashboard on Firebase Analytics for login/signup performance and feature engagement, with automated weekly reporting.
  • Delivered key features: image-URL authentication, device-level KYC (web SDK), in-app notes purchase involving a payment-flow revamp, interactive videos, Mixpanel integration, and an in-app rating flow that lifted the Play Store rating from 3.9 to 4.3; also delivered Android 14 support across the Marrow and India Drug Index apps.
Software Development Engineer 1 (Android)Swiggy

Jun 2019 — Jan 2023

  • Delivered the New User Onboarding Experience revamp in the Swiggy app, enhancing login/signup UX, integrating dynamic animations to boost signup conversions, and improving location search capabilities.
  • Shipped a set of low-friction authentication features: OTP-less call verification, WhatsApp One-Tap login, Truecaller signup autofill, and multi-device logout. Proposed and implemented SMS Retriever for automatic OTP entry.
  • Integrated growth and user-acquisition SDKs, coordinating directly with vendors: CleverTap push templates, the CleverTap–Xiaomi push SDK for delivery on Xiaomi devices, Facebook deferred deep linking, and the Truecaller login SDK.
  • Android point of contact for the Traffic and Acquisition stream: owned features end-to-end through post-release monitoring and on-call, set up product analytics (Firebase Analytics, AppsFlyer, CleverTap), and refactored legacy modules toward SOLID.

01 / ANDROID PROJECT

Chronarch

A native Android focus timer that turns deep work into a reward system: run timed 30- or 60-minute focus sessions, earn Focus Points for each one you complete, and redeem those points against rewards you define yourself. Built solo during a career break, from first commit to a Google Play release.

What it does

  • Focus timers with a live countdown ring, run in a foreground service so a session continues when the app is backgrounded.
  • Persistent notification with remaining time, end time and one-tap stop, plus a completion notification; both deep-link back into the app.
  • Focus Points economy with daily-streak bonuses; stopping a session early resets the streak.
  • Session and points-transaction history, filterable by duration, status, type and date range.

How it’s built

  • Kotlin, Jetpack Compose and Material 3: dynamic color, a monochrome themed launcher icon, a native splash screen, and adaptive layouts across phones, tablets, foldables and landscape.
  • Clean Architecture / MVI, organised per feature with independent data / domain / presentation layers; the domain layer stays free of Compose so logic is testable in isolation.
  • Hilt for dependency injection, Room for persistence, Coroutines and Flow for concurrency, Navigation Compose for routing.

Delivery

  • GitHub Actions CI on every PR: Detekt static analysis with SARIF code-scanning annotations, a build gate and CodeRabbit AI review; a separate workflow builds debug-APK artifacts, with workflows hardened to least-privilege permissions.
  • Gradle Kotlin DSL build with a dedicated debug variant and semantic versioning; managed the full Google Play closed-testing release, including tester group and store listing.

CaloryTracker

A nutrition tracker built on multi-module Clean Architecture, featuring on-device food image recognition. It computes personalized calorie and macro targets during onboarding, logs meals against a daily goal, and searches foods via the Open Food Facts API.

  • Structured as a 9-module Clean Architecture codebase (domain / data / presentation per feature) with framework-free JVM domain modules and enforced dependency boundaries; Hilt for cross-module DI, use cases as injectable single-responsibility classes; shared build logic via Gradle convention plugins and a version catalog.
  • On-device food recognition using a MediaPipe Tasks Vision image classifier with a bundled TFLite model. Photo Picker or camera capture (TakePicture + FileProvider, no CAMERA permission); top predictions surface in a bottom sheet and drive the existing search flow.
  • Jetpack Compose + Material 3 UI with unidirectional state (StateFlow) and one-off effects via Channels, on a single-Activity Navigation Compose graph.
  • Food search over the Open Food Facts REST API (Retrofit / Moshi) with a hand-rolled paginator; Room for local persistence of logged meals and daily nutrition history.
  • Tested with JUnit, MockK and MockWebServer across use case, repository and API layers, plus Room DAO instrumentation tests on an in-memory database.

Originally based on Philipp Lackner’s multi-module architecture course project; extended with on-device food image recognition (MediaPipe / TFLite), custom pagination for search, broader test coverage, and a convention-plugin build setup.
